A 25-year-old Trafford woman’s alleged plan to tamper with her court-ordered drug test was scuttled this week at the Westmoreland County Courthouse when a probation officer noticed her hide a pill bottle inside a garbage can.

County park police charged Alyssa M. Ofchinick with providing an altered urine sample following the incident at 10:25 a.m. Wednesday in a restroom near the probation office.

When officers confiscated the pill bottle and discovered the urine sample inside, police reported that Ofchinick “became very irate and upset.” According to court documents, Ofchinick told police a friend assured her the scheme to provide a drug-free urine sample by hiding it in a pill bottle in the restroom “would work.”

Ofchinick was ordered to be drug tested during probation for a retail theft conviction. Greensburg District Judge Chris Flanigan ordered her to be held in the county jail on $20,000 bail. A preliminary hearing will be held April 18.
