Training session will offer help on responding to those with mental health, substance abuse issues
The Laurel Highlands Workforce & Opportunity Center in Greensburg will host a Dec. 13 program on mental health first aid training.
The training will provide attendees with a five-step action plan to guide them through the process of reaching out and offering support to someone experiencing mental health issues.
“It’s never been more important for our communities to talk about mental health and substance abuse challenges,” said Chuck Ingoglia, president and CEO of the National Council for Mental Wellbeing in a news release. “Mental Health First Aid is breaking down barriers and stigma so together we can learn how to better support one another.”
The training session will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 13 at 310 Donohoe Road in Hempfield. The skills-based seminar teaches adults how to identify, understand and respond to signs and symptoms of mental health or substance abuse challenges.
The cost for the class is $50. Register at LHWOC.org.
