Trash hauling changes hit North Huntingdon residents
North Huntingdon residents whose garbage collection was delayed after a new hauler was hired can take their garbage to a Dumpster at the township’s public works building off Route 30, officials said.
The township’s trash hauler, Westmoreland Sanitary Landfill LLC/County Hauling Corp. of Rostraver, placed the Dumpster at the public works garage at 12319 Route 30. Some garbage collection days were changed when it took over the routes from Waste Management, said Jeff Silka, township manager.
Some residents would have been forced to wait more than a week to have their trash collected because of the changes, Silka said.
The Dumpster will remain at the public works garage for a week, Silka said.
The township awarded County Hauling a four-year contract in September, replacing Waste Management, whose contract expired Dec. 31.
