State police are asking the public’s help locating a 14-year-old girl who ran away from a Adelphoi group home in Derry Township Sunday.

Police reported that Dajah Whetstone ran away from the Susan’s Place group home on the 2800 block of Ligonier Street about 5:30 p.m.

Trooper Josh Abernathy reported a search of the area along the township’s border with Latrobe and in Unity was unsuccessful Sunday.

On Monday afternoon, troopers released a photograph of the teenager taken by a security camera at the Walmart in Unity about 6 p.m. Sunday. Police said the girl was seen getting in a silver sport utility vehicle with an unknown woman pictured in the photograph.

The Black teenager was reportedly also seen in the parking lot of the Dollar General store off Route 30, also in Unity.

Abernathy said the girl is a court-ordered ward of Adelphoi from Monroe County.

Anyone with information is asked to call state police at 724-697-5780
