Troopers say Donegal Township man sexually assaulted mentally challenged person

An 80-year-old Donegal Township man was arrested Tuesday by state police after he was accused of sexually assaulted a mentally challenged person on Sunday.

Ronald W. Kern was ordered held in the county jail without bail after being arraigned on charges of aggravated indecent assault, aggravated indecent assault of a mentally challenged person and indecent assault.

According to court documents, the victim reported the alleged assault to a relative who the called state police.

Kern arrested after being interviewed by troopers, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled April 29 before Washington Township District Judge Jason Buczak.

According to online dockets, Kern has no prior criminal history. He did not have an attorney listed in court documents.
