A section of Turkeytown Road in South Huntingdon will be closed beginning Monday to allow the state to make emergency repairs, resulting in a detour that will last about a month, PennDOT’s Uniontown office said.

PennDOT will replace the existing bridge with a new 48-inch cross pipe to carry Hunter’s Run underneath the road, which lies between Bells Mills and Branthoover roads. Fill will be placed above the pipe and asphalt laid atop it, the state said. Hunter’s Run is a tributary of Sewickley Creek.

During the closure, motorists can follow the marked detour which uses Route 31 and Bells Mill Road.

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, and traffic speed information.
