2 new coronavirus cases, no new deaths reported in Westmoreland County - Jun. 2, 2020
Two new covid-19 cases were reported Tuesday in Westmoreland County. No new deaths were counted.
The countywide case total is now 451, with 38 deaths, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
County Coroner Kenneth Bacha has reported 32 coronavirus deaths, less than the state’s reported 38. Bacha’s office has not updated its count since May 7. The coroner’s website says the information will be updated only when a new case is reported to the office.
Of the deaths recorded by Bacha’s office, 15 were men and 17 were women. The youngest was 61 years old, and the average age was 83.
More than 10,000 county residents have tested negative for the virus.
Statewide, there have been 72,894 confirmed cases of coronavirus, and 5,667 deaths, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
Westmoreland County is set to enter the green phase of Gov. Tom Wolf’s three-stage reopening plan on Friday.
