Two motorists were flown to Pittsburgh trauma centers for treatment after a two-car collision early Friday evening at Route 217 and Industrial Boulevard in Derry Township.

Bradenville Fire Chief Mark Piantine said a man was freed from one of the cars and a woman was extricated from the other following the crash that happened at about 5:30 p.m.

Derry firefighters and Mutual Aid Ambulance also responded. One of the victims was flown from Excela Health Latrobe Hospital in Latrobe and the other was flown from Arnold Palmer Regional Airport in Unity, Piantine said.

The intersection was temporarily closed to traffic. Additional details weren’t immediately available.
