Unity man facing at least 16 years in prison for child rape, pornography
A Unity man was sentenced Thursday to serve up to 10 years in prison for the rape of a child.
Timothy D. Piper, 24, pleaded guilty in September to three charges, including counts of rape and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse.
Prosecutors said Piper had repeated sexual contact with a young boy over a seven-year period that ended in 2015. His victim was the same child prosecutors said Piper exploited in explicit sexual photographs and video he distributed, allegations that were the subject of federal charges to which he pleaded guilty to last year.
The five-to-10-year prison term imposed Thursday by Westmoreland County Common Pleas Court Judge Tim Krieger is to run consecutive to an 11-year federal prison sentence imposed last year for the child pornography case, meaning that Piper could spend at least 16 years in prison.
