A Derry Township woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash Friday morning on Route 119 in Salem.

Westmoreland County Coroner Tim Carson said Melissa S. Dustin, 37, of Torrance died of blunt force injuries in the collision.

The crash was reported at 8:41 a.m. just south of the Route 22 intersection., according to a Westmoreland 911 dispatch supervisor.

Dustin was the sole occupant of a northbound Honda Civic that ran off the east shoulder of 119 and then veered back across the center line, Carson said. It continued into the opposing lane, where it collided with a southbound vehicle, he said.

Dustin wasn’t using a seat belt and the car’s airbags weren’t deployed, Carson said.

It wasn’t clear if anyone in the other vehicle was injured.

State police are investigating the crash.

Route 119 was closed for a couple hours between Barnes Lane and Route 22, according to PennDOT.

Ferguson Funeral Home in Blairsville is in charge of arrangements for Dustin.
