FedEx truck burning Wednesday afternoon on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, three miles east of the Donegal exit.

An empty FedEx truck traveling eastbound on the Pennsylvania Turnpike between the Donegal and New Stanton exits was destroyed by fire Wednesday afternoon, Mt. Pleasant Fire Chief Jerry Lucia said.

Both eastbound lanes of the tollroad were closed until the fire was extinguished, Lucia said. The incident occurred about three miles east of the Donegal interchange, a Westmoreland County Public Safety supervisor said.

No one was injured in the fire, which was reported at 2 p.m., Lucia said.

According to a road map provided by the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, traffic delays related to the incident were still being reported around 3:45 p.m., when one eastbound lane remained closed at milepost 88. There were no advisories for the area by 6:30 p.m.
