Veterans talk with vendors about services offered by the Veterans Affairs Pittsburgh Healthcare System during a town hall and resource fair in Monroeville.

Veterans looking for assistance or information will be able to get help at the Veterans Resource Fair scheduled for Wednesday at the Jeannette American Legion Post 344.

The event, from for 1 to 4 p.m., will be held even though the Veterans Administration last week canceled its round of Town Hall meetings in Pennsylvania and Ohio. The VA conducted just one town hall session in Washington, Pa.

The Westmoreland County recorder of deeds will be at Jeannette event to register military service records and issue veteran identification cards, according to Dorey Stabile, commander of the American Legion District 31.

Personnel from the Westmoreland County Veterans Affairs & Services Office will be at the site to assist veterans with filing disability claims with the Veterans Administration, as well as submitting “intent to file documents” and providing answers about the claims, Stabile said.

Representatives from the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veteran Affairs also will attend.

Representatives from Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania Outreach and Education will be on hand to answer questions about the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program — LIHEAP.

The Wounded Warriors Project and the Westmoreland County Suicide Prevention Task Force — Ray of Hope, will be at the site, as will staff from Charlie Health, a virtual intensive outpatient programming for those in need of behavioral health care.

Light refreshments will be provided. The post is at 109 Fifth St., Jeannette.
