Voices of Westmoreland seeks views of county candidates
Voice of Westmoreland, a nonprofit organization that promotes racial, economic and educational equity in the county, is asking candidates seeking office this year answer a series of questions leading up the May 21 primary election.
On Monday, questionnaires were sent to county candidates asking views about issues that impact working families, education, livability, taxation and diversity, organization officials said.
“It’s time to hold our local leadership accountable, and that starts with knowing where they stand on the issues most important to working people in Westmoreland. While Voice of Westmoreland is non-partisan, it doesn’t mean we’re not political. All of our members and leaders are volunteers. We hope that this questionnaire will serve as a tool to help our members determine which candidates they’re willing to hit the streets for in their free time,” said Angela Aldous, a co-founder of Voice of Westmoreland.
Candidates have until April 22 to submit answers, which Voice of Westmoreland officials said will be made public.
