Police arrested a woman and confiscated 35 bags of suspected heroin after employees at the East Huntingdon Walmart became suspicious and contacted state troopers Monday.
Amanda Skyee Crosby, 26, of Bullskin, Fayette County, is in the Westmoreland County Prison on $35,000 bond on charges of delivery, distribution and possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
State police received a call Thursday evening that a couple in the store had discarded a metal box containing suspected contraband and drug paraphernalia, Trooper Dalton Young reported.
When Young arrived, employees said the couple was still inside, pushing a shopping cart.
Young said when he spoke with the male suspect, who is not charged, he said that Crosby asked him to throw away the metal container. Young saw Crosby’s coat inside the shopping cart with multiple stamp bags of suspected heroin “in plain view.”
“(Crosby) confirmed the jacket was hers…,” Young wrote.
Crosby’s male companion consented to a search of his vehicle in the parking lot, where police say more stamp bags labeled “Road Rage” and drug paraphernalia were located in a backpack and a small makeup bag that Crosby said belonged to her, Young wrote.
In all, Young reported he confiscated 35 full stamp bags of heroin, 13 used stamp bags, nine syringes and a glass pipe.
A preliminary hearing is set for April 13. Attempts to reach a Walmart official for comment were unsuccessful.
