Westmoreland County added just three more coronavirus cases on Wednesday as an update in the state’s death numbers brought their total more in line with the county coroner’s number.

The county now has 386 covid-19 cases with 30 deaths.

The state as a whole added 479 covid-19 deaths, though Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine stressed that those deaths were over the course of two weeks. They were added today as the state continues efforts to catch up with what counties are reporting through a number of platforms.

The state now lists 26 covid-19 deaths in Westmoreland County, four behind what coroner Ken Bacha has reported. He has noted that he finds out about virus-related deaths sooner than the Department of Health.

Deaths related to contagious diseases that could constitute a public health hazard are required by law to be reported to coroners in the county where the death occurred.

Fourteen men and 16 women between the ages of 61 and 109 have died from the virus in Westmoreland County, according to Bacha’s statistics. All were white.
