The Westmoreland County Chamber of Commerce will hold the first meeting of its young professionals group in an effort to bring the next generation of business leaders into the fold.
“Our goal is to create a supportive community where young professionals can not only learn from each other and their peers but also establish transparent and effective communication channels,” chamber President Dan DeBone said.
The group will hold its first session at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, and it will include a discussion with the Westmoreland County Transit Authority to review and provide feedback from the business community on the authority’s long-term comprehensive transportation plan.
The official title for the young professionals group is Westmoreland FUEL, a name that comes from the the group’s goals: focus, unite, engage and lead.
“Growing up in Westmoreland, and now as an active young professional within our country, it’s crucial that our opinions, suggestions and input are heard, valued and acted upon to drive change and revitalize our population,” said FUEL President and Westmoreland Country Club property controller Ali Zorzi. “It’s also important that our current and future generations of professionals obtain more information about career opportunities and learn more about the wonderful attractions and communities that could (bring) more young professionals to live, grow and thrive in the region.”
The Young Professionals group will host a series of roundtable discussions, beginning Wednesday, April 3, with the region’s business leaders, local officials, nonprofits and community groups.
The meeting will be at the chamber office, 241 Tollgate Hill Road in Greensburg, and the group is seeking new members.
