Westmoreland commissioners OK emergency repairs to courthouse parking lot
An emergency contract for repair work at the Westmoreland County Courthouse on Thursday got a formal OK from the county commissioners.
The board approved the nearly $70,000 contract with Maccabee Industrial, Inc. of Belle Vernon for labor, materials and equipment needed to fix damage in the underground parking area of the courthouse.
An area in the courtyard on North Main Street will remain cordoned off for the next couple weeks until the work is completed. Salt and water have leaked from that area into the parking lot, resulting in a crumbling ceiling in the parking lot, Public Works Director Greg McCloskey said this week.
The crew will install shoring beams and other reinforcements while also reconfiguring duct work and sprinkler lines as part of the contract.
