Westmoreland County commissioners have delayed board’s first evening public meeting in decades for one week.

Commissioners earlier this year revamped the schedule for public meetings to include a voting session that was to be conducted at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the courthouse in Greensburg. Officials said a scheduling conflict necessitated that meeting to be pushed back one week, to April 11.

Commissioners for years regularly conduct monthly voting meetings at 10 a.m. at the courthouse.

Responding to public calls for more accessible meetings, the commissioners shifted four meeting times and locations throughout 2024. In addition to this month’s night meeting, commissioners will conduct an evening meeting on June 6 at Northmoreland Park in Allegheny Township and Aug. 22 at Cedar Creek Park in Rostraver.

The board will also convene a public meeting in at 10 a.m. on July 18 at Westmoreland County Community College near Youngwood.
