A man operating a snow blower was struck and killed by a pickup Saturday morning, according to the Westmoreland County Coroner’s Office.

County Coroner Timothy Carson identified the victim as Brian P. Hyde, of East Huntingdon.

Hyde, 49, was struck around 10 a.m. by a Dodge Ram pickup traveling at the intersection of Water Street and Pine Lane.

He was taken to Excela Health Frick Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:15 a.m.

It’s unknown if weather conditions, speed and/or cellphone use were contributing factors in the incident, according to investigating Deputy Coroner Sean Hribal.

State police in Greensburg are investigating and were not immediately available for comment Saturday.

An autopsy is scheduled this week to determine cause and manner of death.
