A Salem man was killed in a crash on Route 22 in Murrysville on Saturday evening after a suspected impaired driver ran a red light and hit his car broadside, according to the Westmoreland County Coroner’s Office and municipal police.

Michael D. Poholsky, 65, was driving a Chrysler Concorde on School Road when it was hit by a red pickup that was traveling west on Route 22 in Murrysville, according to police. The crash was reported at 8 p.m.

Poholsky was attempting to make a left turn from School Road onto Route 22 when his vehicle was hit, Police Chief Tom Seefeld said. Two other vehicles became involved as a result of the impact.

Charges are pending against the pickup driver, Seefeld said.

A passenger in Poholsky’s car was taken to a hospital for evaluation. State police helped with crash reconstruction. An autopsy was scheduled for Monday.
