Westmoreland County adds 15 new coronavirus cases

Westmoreland County saw 15 new cases of covid-19 added to its total Thursday, the Pennsylvania Department of Health reported.

There were 15 new cases added Wednesday, as well. The seven-day average for the county is 14 cases.

The county’s total cases are now 1,778, with 1,721 confirmed and 57 probable.

No additional deaths were reported, leaving the death toll at 49.

Two patients in the county are hospitalized with covid-19 and one of those is using a ventilator, according to the state’s covid-19 dashboard. This is one less patient than Wednesday.

The highest report of coronavirus cases in the county this month came Aug. 8 when 23 cases were added.

Westmoreland County has a total of 36,403 negative cases, according to the state.
