Westmoreland County adds 16 new covid-19 cases

Westmoreland County has 16 newly reported covid-19 cases as of Friday, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Of the new cases, 14 are confirmed and two are probable. The update brings the county’s total to 1,500 cases, with 1,460 confirmed and 40 probable.

The start of August and the start of July differ in coronavirus cases, as there were no less than 27 new covid-19 cases reported each day in the first week of July. New cases in Westmoreland County have remained under 20 each day for the first seven days of August.

No new deaths were reported Friday, keeping the death total at 46.

According to the state covid-19 dashboard, seven people are currently hospitalized in Westmoreland County, with one of them on a ventilator.
