Westmoreland County adds 18 new coronavirus cases

Westmoreland County added 18 coronavirus cases on Wednesday, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

The new cases — all confirmed — bring the county’s total to 1,573 cases.

There were 260 new tests reported, for a daily positivity rate of 6.92%. Overall, the county’s positivity rate since the outbreak began in March is 4.6%.

No new deaths were reported in Westmoreland County, keeping the total at 47.

The county has averaged 14 cases per day this month after averaging 25 in July, seven in June, two in May, 11 in April and five in March.

According to the state’s covid-19 tracking website, there are eight Westmoreland County residents currently in the hospital for the virus, with one on a ventilator.
