Westmoreland County confirmed two more cases of covid-19 between Friday and Saturday, bringing the countywide total to 415, state health data show.

The state has confirmed that at least 30 people in the county have died from the disease.

Westmoreland County Coroner Ken Bacha, whose tally has been higher than the state data reported in recent days and weeks, reported 32 covid-19 deaths earlier this week. Those who died include 15 men and 17 women between ages 61 and 109. The average age of the deaths was 83.

The coroner reported no new deaths on Saturday.

The state attributed at least 27 of the county’s deaths to nursing homes.

Nearly 40% of Westmoreland County’s cases involve residents and employees of nursing homes and other long-term care facilities.

State health officials have said they’re working to reduce backlogs in reporting and other issues that have contributed to discrepancies between local and state figures.

Nearly 6,000 people in Westmoreland County and 222,000 people statewide have tested negative for the coronavirus disease.
