Westmoreland County saw 63 new cases of covid-19 added to its total Sunday, the Pennsylvania Department of Health reported. The new cases are for the past two days.

The state Department of Health said a technical issue caused a delay in Saturday’s reporting and the need to report a two-day total Sunday. The state has generally stopped issuing Sunday reports.

The county’s total cases are now 2,416 with 2,269 confirmed and 147 probable since the first cases were reported in March.

No additional deaths were reported, leaving the death toll at 56. In September, there were seven deaths reported in Westmoreland County.

According to the state, 21 county residents are hospitalized for covid-19, with one patient on a ventilator.

On Friday, Westmoreland County saw its highest daily spike since the outbreak began with 54 new covid-19 cases reported.

And Saturday one more resident and a staff member at Westmoreland Manor tested positive for the coronavirus, according to county Commissioner Doug Chew.
