Westmoreland County adds 8 new coronavirus cases

Westmoreland County saw eight new cases of covid-19 added to its total Tuesday, the Pennsylvania Department of Health reported.

There were 15 new cases on Monday, eight on Sunday and 17 on Saturday. The seven-day average for the county is 12 cases.

There were no new deaths announced, making it 27 days since any covid-related deaths were added in the county.

According to the state’s covid-19 tracking website, there are four Westmoreland County residents currently hospitalized for the virus, one of them on a ventilator.

A total of 1,993 county residents have tested positive since the pandemic began in March, with 39,941 testing negative.

Westmoreland County’s overall positivity rate stands at 4.75%.
