Westmoreland County adds 84 covid cases, 3 deaths

Westmoreland County on Wednesday added 84 new coronavirus cases and three deaths, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

The county’s totals now stand at 25,516 cases and 645 deaths associated with covid-19. Of those newly added cases, 26 are confirmed and 58 are probable.

According to the state’s covid-19 dashboard, there are currently 130 coronavirus patients hospitalized in the county. The county has 96 ventilators, with 16 in use, three by covid-19 patients. There are nine coronavirus patients in Westmoreland County intensive care units, with 33.3% of county ICU beds available.

Westmoreland County has 50 nursing homes or personal care homes that have had coronavirus cases. Overall in the county, there have been 1,947 resident cases and 267 employee cases. Westmoreland sits 10th overall in the state in the number of resident cases.

A total of 253, or almost 40% of the county’s deaths, have been associated with these facilities.

The county’s seven-day total of new cases shrunk to 518, the lowest since 503 on Nov. 7.
