Westmoreland County adds 95 covid cases, 2 deaths

Westmoreland County on Friday reported an additional 95 cases of covid-19, keeping the seven-day average at 63 cases for the third consecutive day and below 70 for nearly two weeks.

Of the new cases, 60 are confirmed via 290 new PCR tests and 35 are listed as probable, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

The county has had a total of 27,089 cases since the pandemic began nearly a year ago. Of these, 19,112 are confirmed from a total of 106,624 people tested.

Health officials define a probable case as one in which a patient has a positive viral antigen test or covid symptoms with a “high-risk exposure” to someone who has been confirmed to have coronavirus.

The county added two covid-related deaths, bringing the death total to 680. The county has not added more than three deaths on any day in over two weeks.

Westmoreland has 118 residents hospitalized for covid-19, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Westmoreland County has 33,736 people with a first dose of a covid vaccine and 22,771 people fully vaccinated, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
