Westmoreland County Airshow canceled for 2026 amid passenger terminal construction
The Westmoreland County Airport Authority executive director said Friday the 2026 air show is canceled.
“It would be a challenge to meet all the TSA requirements with the terminal construction a critial point,” authority Executive Director Gabe Monzo said. “In order to get the construction done on time and efficiently, we felt it was a good time to take a year off.”
Monzo made the recommendation at the authority meeting on Tuesday that the air show go on hiatus for a year. The authority board of directors did not take a vote to approve the recommendation.
The authority had an offer for an F-35 jet for 2026 but had not confirmed a typical headlining attraction like the Navy Blue Angels that typically draws crowds to the show.
The air show was last canceled in 2020 during the pandemic. Prior to that, the show was canceled in 2013.
Monzo did not offer plans for 2027.
