Westmoreland County development officials will spend $1.6 million to renovate the last remaining vacant space in the Jeannette Industrial Park.

A former centerpiece of Jeannette’s glass making past, the more than 211,000-square-foot property has served as one of 19 industrial parks in the county since the mid 1990s.

It is home to nine businesses and about 135 employees.

Plans call for the county to renovate a 55,000-square-foot former warehouse facility has been vacant since the end of last year as part of an effort to attract another long-term tenant to the park.

Plans call for upgraded LED lighting, new wall and roof insulation, break room and restroom improvements, concrete floor repairs, and a new loading dock.

“When this modernization project is completed in April 2026, we’re confident the renovated space will attract companies that are looking for a home in a quality facility,” said Westmoreland County Industrial Development Corporation Executive Director Jason Rigone. “Those are the sort of employers that create long-lasting jobs.”

The agency secured a $750,000 federal grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission and will use $850,000 of internal funds to pay for the renovation project.

A similar $657,000 renovation project of a 50,000-square-foot adjacent space space was undertaken in 2020.

Two years later, the development agency signed a five-year deal with Scott Electric to lease that space.
