The Westmoreland County Election Board on Monday unanimously approved the final certification of the Nov. 5 election results.
“It’s a wrap,” Election Bureau Director Greg McCloskey said.
The certification included all races that appeared on the ballot, including the closely contested election that saw Republican Dave McCormick oust three-term incumbent Democrat Bob Casey from the U.S. Senate. That race had been subject to a state-mandated recount that was aborted late last week after Casey conceded more than two weeks after Election Day.
Ballots were re-tallied for two days in Westmoreland County before Casey’s concession was announced and before the recount was completed, McCloskey said.
“We quit around 6 p.m. on Thursday and came back Friday at 9 a.m., when we were told the recount was halted,” McCloskey said.
About one-fourth of the more than 212,000 ballots cast this month remained to be recounted when Casey conceded, he said.
The county’s final totals included voter turnout of 82.2%.
President-elect Donald Trump received 63.7% of the vote in Westmoreland County, nearly mirroring the Republican’s totals from four years ago. His challenger, Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris, received just more than 35% of the vote.

In the U.S. Senate race, McCormick also won by a large margin in Westmoreland County, with 61% of the vote to Casey’s 36%.
Republican candidates swept the ballot in Westmoreland County, including races for two U.S. Congressional seats as well as seats in the state House and Senate and state row offices.
