The Westmoreland County Bureau of Parks & Recreation canceled all scheduled events through June.

“Following increased and overwhelming concerns about the covid-19 virus, we felt this was the best way to protect the health and safety of everyone in our community,” the bureau said in a statement. “We are very disappointed that we are unable to hold these events, but we know it’s the right decision based on the information we have today.”

The cancellations include the following events:

  • Mammoth Park Free Fishing Derby, scheduled for April 26
  • Senior Games, scheduled for May 5 -15
  • Northmoreland Park Free Fishing Derby, scheduled for May 17
  • All Summer Environmental Programs and Camps for Kids
  • Mammoth Fest at Mammoth Park on Sunday, June 7
  • Twin Lakes Park Fishing Derby, scheduled for Sunday June 21

In addition, all facility reservations have been canceled for the months of April and May.

County parks remain open despite the cancellations.
