Westmoreland County edges up with 23 new coronavirus cases

Westmoreland County on Saturday reported 23 new coronavirus cases, the most in more than a week.

The county had been reporting less than 20 new cases per day in August. The current 7-day average is 14 cases per day in the county, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

There were no new deaths attributed to covid-19 in the county, keeping the total deaths at 46 for more than a week.

Of the total 1,523 cases, 1,480 are confirmed and 43 are probable. There have been 31,424 negative cases in the county.

According to Pennsylvania’s covid-19 dashboard, six people are currently hospitalized in Westmoreland County. One of them is on a ventilator.
