Westmoreland County on Sunday continued to report no new deaths from the coronavirus, but did see an increase in positive covid-19 cases.

State officials said 427 people have tested positive for the virus as of Sunday, an increase of four from Saturday.

Neither the coroner nor state officials reported any new deaths on Sunday, leaving the death total from both outlets at 32. The county’s death total has remained the same since May 7.

County Coroner Ken Bacha said those who died included 15 men and 17 women between the ages of 61 and 109. The average death age was 83.

Bacha said 25 of those deaths were confirmed by positive testing and seven weren’t tested and presumed by symptoms. All the people who died were white.

State officials said roughly 40% of Westmoreland County’s cases involve residents and staffers of nursing and personal care homes, and attribute 27 of the total deaths to such facilities. According to the state, 135 residents and 34 staffers at nine facilities have tested positive for the virus.

Statewide, 62,234 total people have tested positive for the virus. More than 270,600 have tested negative.

In Westmoreland County, close to 7,100 people have tested negative for the virus.
