Westmoreland County posts record 72 new covid-19 cases
Westmoreland County set a record Friday by reporting 72 new cases of covid-19.
That’s the highest number of cases the county has reported on any day since tracking began in March.
The county’s 7-day average is currently at an all-time high of 47 cases, with the 7-day case total also sitting at a record 327.
Of the new cases, 68 are confirmed and four are listed as probable. The county’s total now stands at 2,680 cases, with 2,514 of those confirmed and 166 probable.
The daily positivity rate in the county is 18.1%.
No new deaths were reported in the county and the total remains at 59 attributed to covid-19. There are 29 patients hospitalized for the virus with one using a ventilator as of Friday afternoon.
The highest total reported cases in Westmoreland communities are 517 in Greensburg, 298 in Irwin, 284 in New Kensington and 240 in Latrobe.
The county has reported a total of 45,425 people testing negative for coronavirus.
