Westmoreland County posted its second highest single-day total of reported coronavirus cases Wednesday.

According to data from the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Westmoreland added 39 positive covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours. The county’s highest one-day mark was set April 25 when 43 cases were reported. The county now has 2,135 cases since the first case was reported March 19.

There were no new deaths reported Wednesday, keeping the county’s total at 52.

It’s the eighth straight day for the county to record double-digit cases, and the first time since July 30 with 30 or more cases.

Westmoreland Manor, a county-owned nursing home in Hempfield, has reported 39 cases in the past three days, with residents accounting for 33 of the positives. Federally mandated baseline testing for the virus began last week at the facility.

Despite the rise in county cases, none of those have come from a long-term care facility, according to the state. Through Wednesday, facility-reported data for Westmoreland Manor shows it has no resident cases and 1-4 staff cases.

“We are actively working to report the most up-to-date data,” a health department spokesman said.
