Both vehicle and pedestrian traffic are light on March 30, 2020 along Main Street in Mt. Pleasant.

Coronavirus cases in Westmoreland County increased by 11 on Tuesday, part of the larger statewide increase of nearly 1,000, state officials said.

Cases in the county now total 74, state data shows. Statewide, 962 new cases brought Pennsylvania’s case count to 5,805.

Eleven more people have died, bringing the death toll to 74. Fayette County reported its first death from the virus, and cases there stand at 14.

Cambria and Somerset counties each saw their case counts increase from two to three. Armstrong and Indiana counties held at five and six cases, respectively. There are 35 cases in Washington County.

Pediatric cases have risen, according to the numbers released by the state. Cases of children under 5 make up nearly 1% of all cases, and nearly 1% are kids aged 5 to 12. One percent are teenagers 13 to 18.

Those in the 25 to 49 age group still make up most of the state’s cases – about 40%.
