Westmoreland County reports 119 new coronavirus cases

Westmoreland County on Friday reported 119 new cases of coronavirus, down from yesterday’s record 207 daily cases.

But that was not enough to keep the county’s seven-day average from reaching a new high of 123 cases. The seven-day total rose to 858 cases.

The county has had a total of 5,757 cases, with 4,750 of those confirmed and 1,007 listed as probable. There were 432 new coronavirus tests in the county. The daily PCR test positive rate has pulled back to 15.51% while the overall PCR test positive rate struck a new high of 7.76%.

There were no new covid-related deaths reported in the county and the death total remains at 131.

Westmoreland has recorded 56,481 residents with negative PCR tests.

The county has 55 patients hospitalized for covid-19 with ten of those in the intensive care unit. Six of those patients are using ventilators. The county has 88 ventilators and 14 of those are in use for all illnesses.
