Westmoreland County reports 3 new coronavirus deaths

Westmoreland County added three new coronavirus deaths Thursday. The county has reported at least one new coronavirus-related death each day since Oct. 14.

The new deaths bring the county’s total to 114 since the pandemic began in March.

The county also saw an additional 56 cases of the virus. The total number of cases in the country now stands at 4,817, with 4,191 cases confirmed and 626 probable.

The county’s seven-day average is 69 cases per day and the county’s seven-day total of cases is 483.

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been over 58,000 tests in the county. The overall PCR test positivity rate — the percentage of PCR tests that come back positive — in Westmoreland County is 7.22%.

According to the state’s covid-19 dashboard, 55 Westmoreland County residents are hospitalized for covid-19, with six patients on a ventilator.
