Westmoreland County reports 6 new coronavirus deaths, 74 new cases
Westmoreland County added six new coronavirus deaths, continuing a streak of 14 days with at least one new death in the county because of the virus.
The six deaths are the most in a single day since May. The county saw five deaths on Wednesday and four on Tuesday. There have been 43 deaths in October, while in September there were seven deaths reported.
The county saw an additional 74 cases of the virus, as well. The total number of cases in the country now stands at 4,334 with 3,809 confirmed and 525 probable since the first cases were reported in March. The county’s seven-day average is 71 cases and the county’s seven-day total of cases is 498.
Since the start of the pandemic, there have been nearly 56,000 tests in the county. Overall, the county’s positivity rate sits at 7.74%.
According to the state’s covid-19 dashboard, 49 Westmoreland County residents are hospitalized for covid-19, with seven patients on a ventilator.
