Westmoreland County reports 64 new covid-19 cases, 2 new deaths
Westmoreland County on Friday reported 64 new cases of covid-19, bringing the total known cases to 3,900.
The county’s 7-day average has dropped to 84 cases from an all-time high of 96 just five days ago.
With 393 new tests reported, the county’s daily positivity rate is 16.28%. That’s after several recent days in 20% and 30% positivity rate.
The county reported two new covid-related deaths for the fourth straight day, bringing the total to 80 since March.
This is the ninth consecutive day with a covid-related death in the county, the longest streak since the pandemic began. There have been 16 deaths in the past nine days.
The county reports 43 patients are hospitalized with covid-19 and six of them are using ventilators. The county has a total of 88 ventilators with 14 of those being used for all medical conditions.
Of the total cases, 3,462 are confirmed and 438 are considered probable. There have been 49,924 residents who rested negative for coronavirus.
