Downtown Latrobe on Monday, Sept. 21, 2020.

Westmoreland County on Friday reported 66 additional cases of covid-19, below the seven-day average of 77 cases.

Of the new cases, 32 are confirmed via 141 new PCR tests.

The county has seen a total of 25,668 coronavirus cases since the pandemic began. Of those, 18,338 were confirmed via PCR tests.

Health officials define a probable case as one in which a patient has a positive viral antigen test or covid symptoms with a “high-risk exposure” to someone who has been confirmed to have coronavirus.

There have been 83,911 people in the county who tested negative for the virus.

There were no new covid-related deaths reported in the county so the total since March remains 646.

The county’s seven-day average of deaths has dropped to 20, the lowest it has been since November.

There are currently 125 people in the county hospitalized for covid-19, with five of those in intensive care units and three using ventilators to breathe.
