Westmoreland County announced it will extend hours of operation for its election bureau for a two-week period prior to the Nov. 4 general election.

The county’s election board on Tuesday also approved new locations for five voting of the 306 precincts that will be used on Election Day.

Voters will be able to cast ballots in person using paper ballots filled out by hand or by using a touch screen computer that generates a filled out paper ballot.

Voters using either system will deposit ballots in digital scanners to record their votes.

Polling place changes for the Nov. 4 Election include:

• Jeannette 4, from Midget Athletic Association Building to Jeannette Manor at 401 South Fourth St.

• Jeannette 5-2, from Senaca Heights Community Building to Jeannette Junior/Senior High School at 800 Florida Ave.

• Monessen 1-1, from the city garage to His Place Coffee Community and More at 100 3rd St.

• New Kensington 2nd Ward, from Fire Hall No. 1 to Westmoreland County Community College at 1152 5th Ave.

• Loyalhanna Township No. 1, from Loyalhanna Municipal Building to the township garage at 245 2nd St.

Meanwhile, officials said the county’s election bureau in Greensburg will be open earlier and into the early evenings, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays during the weeks of Oct. 20 through Nov. 3. The courthouse office will remain open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day on Nov. 4.

The election bureau will also be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m on the two Saturdays leading up to the election, on Oct. 25 and Nov. 1.
