Fundraisers

• Westmoreland Woodlands Improvement Association will sponsor its annual potluck dinner and talk Oct. 19 in the Westmoreland Conservation District Barn, 218 Donohoe Road, Hempfield. A social will be at 5:30 p.m. and the dinner will be at 6 p.m. Fried chicken, a potato side and mixed greens will be provided. Bring a side dish or dessert to share. A business meeting will be from 7 to 7:15 p.m. Speaker Sara Fern Fitzsimmons will discuss “Restoring the American Chestnut for Robust Forests in the Eastern U.S.” Cost: $5; association members, free. • The Latrobe, Greensburg and Irwin chapters of the Order of the Eastern Star will sponsor a 5K walk-a-thon to benefit Susquehanna Service Dogs at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 15 at pavilion C in Hempfield Park, 220 Forbes Trail, Hempfield. Rain or shine. Walkers will collect pledges and the one who collects the most will receive a prize. Minimum registration fee: $10. There will be a basket raffle, 50-50 and visit by service dog Larry. • A Seniors For Safe Driving course will be offered from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 24 at the Latrobe Center for Active Adults, 15 Avenue C.
