Church news

• Zion Lutheran Church, Greensburg, will host Lenten worship services and luncheons Thursdays during Lent through Maundy Thursday at the church, 140 S. Pennsylvania Ave. The service will be at 12:05 p.m. and lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. No lunch reservations required. Lunch cost: $5.

• Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1120 Harvey Ave., Greensburg, will host Lenten dinners and services Wednesdays through April 9. Dinner will be at 6 p.m. and the service will begin at 7 p.m. led by the Rev. Jenn Frayer-Griggs. Details: 724-837-3540 or wpcgreensburg.org.

Fundraisers

• Latrobe Center for Active Adults, 15 Avenue C, will host a basket fundraiser March 8 at the center. Doors open at 10 a.m. Drawings start at 2 p.m. Winners need not be present. Cost: $10, includes 25 basket raffle tickets and lunch. There will be door prizes and a 50/50. Details: 724-539-0237.

• A turkey dinner will be served from 4 to 7 p.m. March 8 at Community Church of Hecla, 537 Hecla Road, Mt. Pleasant Township. Dine in or takeout. Details and takeout orders: 724-516-0494 or 724-466-2855.

• Norwin Lions will host its 10th annual Cubcake Wars competition and fundraiser from noon to 3 p.m. March 9 in the Norwin High School cafeteria, 251 McMahon Drive, North Huntingdon. Those attending can purchase and judge cupcakes and there will be performances by Norwin High School music groups. Free admission. Proceeds will benefit the Lions and their Kitty Sack project, which helps to feed food-insecure children and their families. Details: norwinlionsclub@gmail.com or norwinlions.com.

Health News

• Westmoreland County Intellectual Disability and Autism Awareness Committee will host a free awareness event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 8 at Westmoreland Mall, 5256 Route 30, Hempfield. There will be a DJ, entertainment, mascots, activities, games and prizes. Everyone welcome.

Meetings

• The Westmoreland County/Laurel Highlands chapter of the American Field Service high school student exchange program will meet at 7 p.m. March. 10 at the One Room Schoolhouse, on the grounds of AK Hutchinson Elementary School, 810 Welty St., Southwest Greensburg. Students from Poland and Portugal will present a program and serve refreshments. Public welcome. Host families are needed for the 2025-26 school year. • The Braddock Trail chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet March 8 at the chapter house, 200 S. Church St., Mt. Pleasant. Lunch will be at noon and the meeting will be at 1 p.m. The program will be the American History Essay Contest winners.
