Fundraisers
• Lincoln Heights Civic Association will have bingo from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday at the center, 42 Millersdale Road, Jeannette. There will be 20 regular games and five quickies. Cost: 25 cents for a three-card board; $1 for quickies. Payout is 50/50. Free coffee.
• Ligonier Valley Historical Society will sponsor a program “Hammer-In: a Blacksmith Event” from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Compass Inn Museum, 1386 Route 30, Laughlintown. Smithies from the Pittsburgh Area Artists Blacksmith Association and the museum will offer demonstrations of blacksmithing and metalwork. • Pet Friends will host its annual Woofstock outdoor benefit concert from 2 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Quinn Brewing Co., Banco Business Park, 2000 Commerce Loop, North Huntingdon. • The annual St. Pius X Parish Festival, Mt. Pleasant, will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at the church, 224 Summit St. There will be food including the famous parish pizza, games of chance, raffles, bingo, basket auction, children’s games and more. • A snowflake drop to benefit Downtown West Newton Inc. and Gary’s Chuckswagon Restaurant will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the restaurant parking lot, 109 S. Second St., West Newton. Snowflakes are $5 each and the winner receives half of the take. There will be free hot dogs from 3 to 4 p.m. and a farmer and vendor market. Sponsorship opportunities are available. • The Delmont Farmers Market will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays through Sept. 9 in the parking lot of Trinity United Church of Christ, 39 E. Pittsburgh St.
• Lapels Men’s Clothier will host a golf outing fundraiser to benefit Feeding the Spirit charity Aug. 11 at Mt. Odin Park Golf Course, 247 Tollgate Hill Road, Greensburg. Check-in is at noon and the shotgun start is at 1 p.m. Dinner will be at 6 p.m. Entry fee: $100 per golfer. Sponsorship opportunities are available. Registration deadline: July 31. Veterans News
• Norwin Elks will host a free summer picnic for veterans, especially those who have served in the military since the early 1990s, and their caregivers from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Aug. 1 at the lodge, 135 Elks Lane, Irwin. Award nominations being accepted
• YWCA Westmoreland and the United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania Women’s Leadership Council are accepting nominations for their Rising Star Award. Nominees must be a Westmoreland County woman, 35 years old or younger who exhibits early professional success and potential to obtain marked achievement and demonstrates willingness to help others, especially women and girls. The award includes a $2,500 professional development scholarship and a one-year mentorship with the United Way Women’s Leadership Council. Nomination deadline: July 31.
