Westmoreland County Parks and Recreation will host Hobgoblin Hikes on Oct. 16 and Oct. 23.

Art

• Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at Ligonier Valley will host an exhibition, “Here and Beyond” and luncheon at noon Oct. 21 at the museum, 1 Boucher Lane, Ligonier Township. Church

• New Hope Presbyterian Church, 12727 Lincoln Way, North Huntingdon, will offer blessings for pets from noon-2 p.m. Oct. 10. The Rev. Brenda Barnes will officiate. Donations will be accepted benefit the Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh Wildlife Center. Flu shots will be available from noon-12:30 p.m. Bring your insurance card.

• Mother of Sorrows Parish, 4202 Old William Penn Highway, Murrysville, offers free monthly Lunch and Learn sessions for members of the community. This month’s event will be from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 12 in the church social hall. Bring a brown bag lunch. Beverages will be provided. Msgr. James T. Gaston, director of clergy formation for the Catholic Diocese of Greensburg, will discuss “Blessed Are Those Who Mourn – Really?”

Fundraiser

• Norwin Lady Knights volleyball team will sponsor a Pink Out fundraiser Oct 7 against Hempfield at the high school gymnasium, 251 McMahon Drive. North Huntingdon. The junior varsity game will begin at 6 p.m. and the varsity at 7. There will be a basket auction to benefit a local Norwin family impacted by a brain tumor.

Halloween event

• Westmoreland County Parks and Recreation Hobgoblin Hikes will be from 7-9 p.m. Oct. 16 at the Cedar Creek Park and Oct. 23 at Twin Lakes Park. Half-mile hike haunted by ghouls, monsters and goblins recommended for ages 8 and older. Parents are urged to attend with children. Donations will be accepted. Rain or shine. Details: 724-830-3950

• Excela Health will offer wellness check diagnostic screenings from 6:30-9:30 a.m. Oct. 16 at Mt. Pleasant Excela Square at Frick, 508 S. Church St. Sponsored by Mt. Pleasant Rotary. Library news

• Adams Memorial Library, 1112 Ligonier St., Latrobe, will offer, “A Tour of Scotland,” with Paul Thompson, president of the St. Andrew’s Society of Pittsburgh at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 16. There will be demonstrations of the Highland bagpipe and ancient dances of Scotland. Registration required. Registration: 724-539-1972

Meetings

• The Braddock Trail chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet in person and virtually Oct. 9 at the chapter house, 200 S. Church St., Mt. Pleasant. Lunch will be served at noon and the meeting will begin at 1 p.m. State Chairman Becky Braun will present a program, “Madonna of the Trail.” The lunch committee will be Carol Proud, Ann Roller, Fran Vas and Cynthia Mulligan.

• Local chapters of the Women’s Business Network have scheduled meetings. Those attending can learn how the group supports the success and growth of women in business. Professional women are welcome and can attend as a guest at no cost. Some meetings will be held online. Call the chapter representative for more information.

Special events

• Derry First United Methodist Church, 311 N. Ligonier St., will host its free monthly Ladies Lunch at noon Oct. 12 at the church. Public welcome.
