Church news

• Christ United Church of Christ will have a sing-along with alcohol-free drinks May 13 at the church, 1414 Ligonier St., Latrobe. A social hour will be at 6:30 p.m. and music will begin at 7:30. Lauren Condon will perform on guitar and Julie Sexton on piano. The church will have a prayer vigil for Ukraine at 4 p.m. May 15. Details: Bobbie, 724-506-3494.

• An installation service for lead pastor the Rev. Dan Guittap and his wife Kristen will be at 6 p.m. May 15 at New Stanton Alliance Church, 815 S. Center Ave. Refreshments will be served afterward. Public welcome.

• The Caring Closet at Greensburg Church of the Brethren, 554 Stanton St., is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays. Free food, clothing, shoes and more available. Canned and nonperishable food donations are welcome. Call the church to arrange for a pickup. Details: 724-834-2130.

Fundraisers

• Bella Terra Stables, 4913 Logan Ferry Road, Murrysville will host a “Day of Magic” fundraiser for its equine therapy program on May 14. The event will feature portrayals of four princesses — Cinderella, Merida, Rapunzel and Belle — along with costumed superheroes and real-life heroes including firefighters, teachers and medical professionals. Children can participate in activities and meet therapy horses, enjoy music and dancing, and food trucks will be available. Cost to attend is $35 per child ages 1-16. • An herb fair will be hosted by Thyme For Herbs Club from 8 a.m. to noon May 14 at Harrold Zion Lutheran Church, 671 Balzer Meyer Pike, Hempfield. There will be a trash-to-treasure sale, bake sale, an educational table and children’s table.

• Manor Lions Club will host a chicken barbeque from 11 a.m. until sold out May 14 in the parking lot of Roberts Roofing, Route 993, Manor. Menu: half chicken, applesauce, roll, cookie and drink, $10. Proceeds benefit Lions Club charities. Details: 724-787-3954.

• Irwin Garden Club will have a plant sale from 9 a.m. to noon May 14 in the lower parking lot of Norwin Public Library, 100 Caruthers Lane, Irwin. Rain or shine.

• St. Cecilia Church will have a burger bash from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 14 at the church pavilion, 220 St. Cecilia Road, Unity Township. Dine in or takeout. Details: 724-423-3777.

• First Church of God, West Newton, will host an Election Day luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 17 at the church, 157 N. Second St. Dine in, takeout and delivery. Menu: chicken noodle soup, broccoli cheese soup, chili, chicken salad sandwich, ham barbeques, hot dogs, sauerkraut, potato salad, macaroni salad, pie and cake.

• Friends of Norwin Library will have a book sale from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 18 at the library, 100 Caruthers Lane, Irwin. Enter from the lower-level parking lot. Cash and checks accepted.

• Ligonier Valley Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a Music Bingo from 6 to 8 p.m. May 19 at the Ligonier Veterans of Foreign Wars, 749 E. Main St. Admission: $5. There will be prizes and a 50/50 raffle. Reservations: 724-238-4200, 3 to 11 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, and noon to midnight Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. • Excela Health will offer wellness check diagnostic screenings from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. May 21 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 126 E. Fairview Ave., Connellsville. Sponsored by Connellsville Lions Club. Meetings

• The Braddock Trail chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet May 14 at the chapter house, 200 S. Church St., Mt. Pleasant. Lunch will be served at noon and the meeting will begin at 1 p.m. The agenda will include a memorial service.
