Festival

• The August Fun Fest will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, at Cedar Creek Park, 453 Evergreen Drive, Rostraver. Magic Moments will perform doo-wop music and oldies at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the amphitheater, and local bands will perform at noon, 2, 3, 4 and 5 p.m. in pavilion 1. Bring a lawn chair. There will be an arts and crafts market place, a car cruise, bingo, a flea market and a model railroad display by the Mid-Mon Valley Model Railroad Club. Cost: $5, cash only, for an all-day activity pass, includes unlimited admission to the carnival amusement rides, petting zoo and more. General admission and parking are free. Sponsored by the Westmoreland County Bureau of Parks and Recreation and Road Kings Car Club.

Fundraisers

• American Slovene Day will be celebrated from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, at the Yukon Slovenian Hall, 137 Yukon Ave. Jack Tady and the Tady Bears and Jack’s Guys & Dolls with special guest Garrett Tatano will provide the music. Food, refreshments and baked goods will be sold and there will be a Slovenian basket raffle.

• A Vera Bradley bingo will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, at Community Church of Hecla, 537 Hecla Road, Mt. Pleasant Township. Doors open at noon. A light lunch will be available. Details: 724-396-8065 or 724-244-2586.

• Olive Branch Baptist Church, 296 Route 981, Rostraver, will have a clothing sale from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at the church. Cost: men’s and ladies jeans, shorts or capri pants, 10 cents; ladies tops, 50 cents each or four for $1; all children’s wear, 25 cents each. Profits are used to help those in need.

• Unity Township American Legion will host a luau starting at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at the post, 158 American Legion Road, rain or shine. There will be food trucks, a DJ, bingo, raffles, contests, drink specials and Polynesian dancers. The event will be family-friendly and go until 9:30 p.m. Bring chairs. Admission is free and the public is welcome. Proceeds benefit veterans charities.

Organizations

• North Huntingdon AARP meets at noon the first Thursday of each month in Mack Hall at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 200 Leger Road, North Huntingdon. New officers are Deb Miskis, president; Jean Mikula, vice president; Pat Stephanik, secretary; Linda Parzuhoski, treasurer; Margie Caufield, second vice president; Joyce Bechtol, assistant secretary; and Bernie Collins, assistant treasurer. Anyone age 50 or older is welcome. Details: Deb, 412-303-8216.

Nature

• Westmoreland Garden Council will have its annual monarch butterfly release Aug. 9 at the Lefevre Butterfly Garden at the center, 951 Old Salem Road, Greensburg. Food will be sold and there will displays about all phases of a butterfly’s life. Children welcome. Reservations required for butterflies. Reservations: 724-837-0245.
