Church News

• Greensburg Church of the Brethren hosts a night of fun and fellowship for individuals and groups with developmental disabilities 5 to 7 p.m. Mondays at the church, 554 Stanton St., Southwest Greensburg. Dinner is included. Participants must be accompanied by a family member or caregiver. Donations will be accepted. Details: 724-834-2130 or gbgcob.org.

• The First Thursday worship service and luncheon will be at noon Thursday, Nov. 6, at Zion’s Lutheran Church, 140 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Greensburg. Worship will be at noon and lunch will be at 12:30 p.m. in the social room. Cost: $5.

• Greensburg Church of the Brethren will host a revival at 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at the church, 554 Stanton St., Southwest Greensburg. Music will be by country bluegrass gospel band the Poplar Run Boys. Details: gbgcob.org.

Fundraisers

• An Election Day luncheon will be held 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, at West Newton Church of God, 157 N. Second St. Menu: vegetable beef, broccoli cheese and stuffed pepper soups, chili; chicken salad sandwiches, ham barbecues, hot dogs, potato salad, macaroni salad, pie, cake and drinks. Dine in or takeout.

• Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church will host an Election Day spaghetti dinner 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, at Cook Township Community Center, 698 Route 711. Menu: spaghetti with meat sauce, bread, salad and choice of chocolate or white cake. Order and pick up at the kitchen entrance. Proceeds will be used to purchase a new furnace. Cost: $8; children, $6.

• A Christmas shop and treasure sale will be held 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at St. Emma Monastery, 1001 Harvey Ave., Hempfield. An early bird sale with a $5 admission charge will be Thursday, Nov. 6, and a bag sale will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8. Food will be sold including pierogi, haluski, hamburgers, pizza, hot dogs, chili, fish, desserts and baked goods. Dine in or takeout. Details: 724-834-3060.

• The Pages, Parks and Paint Cash Bash will be Saturday, Nov. 8, at St. John the Evangelist Church social hall, 306 St. John’s Drive, Latrobe. Doors open at 5 p.m. and drawings will begin at 6 p.m. Cost: $35, includes a buffet dinner and drafts. There will be games of chance, a basket raffle and a 50-50. • St. Bartholomew Church will host the last monthly Las Vegas bingo of the season Friday, Nov. 7, in the church Marian Hall, 2538 Route 119, Crabtree. • Westmoreland County Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a health and wellness event for women 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, at the Fred Rogers Center, 300 Fraser Purchase Road, Unity. Meetings

• North Huntingdon AARP will meet at noon Thursday, Nov. 6, in Mack Hall, 200 Leger Road. A holiday market with baked goods, soups, a light lunch and treasures of all kinds will be held 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. All senior citizens welcome. Details: call or text 412-841-3528.

• The Botanical Society of Westmoreland County will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, at the Westmoreland Conservation District Barn, 218 Donohoe Road, Hempfield. Butterfly ambassador Gabrielle Marsden will discuss “How the Pawpaw Tree Saved a Butterfly.” Light refreshments will be served afterward. Annual dues of $15 per household or $10 per person will be collected. Dues for Westmoreland County students in elementary, middle or high school or college are free.

Senior Citizen News

• A Seniors for Safe Driving class will be offered 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 6 at Circleville United Methodist Church, 11600 Parkway Drive, North Huntingdon. The class is PennDOT-approved and for drivers who are at least 55 years old. Those who complete the course can qualify for reduced auto insurance premiums. There is no behind-the-wheel driving. • Irwin Senior Activity Center, 310 Oak St., will be closed Tuesday, Nov. 4, for Election Day. A Mexican fiesta lunch will be Wednesday, Nov. 5. Veterans Day will be observed Thursday, Nov. 6. Bring a photo of a friend or family member who served in the military. There will be a speaker and outdoor ceremony. Registration for events and lunch required at least one day in advance. • J. William McCauley Jr. Funeral Home and West Newton Association of Churches will sponsor a community Veterans Day service at 7 p.m. Nov. 11 at West Newton Methodist Church, 106 N. Second St. Names of veterans from West Newton and the surrounding community who died between Nov. 1, 2023, and Oct. 31 will be announced and there will be a candle lighting ceremony. Families who have not been contacted and would like their loved one included should contact the funeral home at 724-872-6699 by Tuesday, Nov. 4. The public is welcome.
